Located within the historic 1101 East South River building along the Fox River, South River MicroFlats offers an intentionally designed residential experience in the heart of Appleton. Originally built in 1952 as part of The Institute of Paper Chemistry, a graduate research institution founded through a partnership between Lawrence College (now Lawrence University) and Wisconsin’s paper industry — the building has long played a meaningful role in the community. In 2004, the property received a Historic Preservation/Restoration Certificate Award from the Appleton Historic Preservation Commission, recognizing its importance to the community and commitment to preservation.
